Volkswagen Amarok Power concept

VW has shown a new Amarok concept car at the Worthersee tuning festival. Pictured and details here

Volkswagen has revealed the new Amarok Power concept at the Worthesee tuning event this week. Essentially an updated version of last year’s Amarok Power Pickup concept, the 2014 car features a bulky bodykit with large 22inch alloy wheels. For Worthesee, Volkswagen has installed a 5000-watt sound system, with deck space for a full-scale DJ set.

A new aggressive colour scheme includes orange decals that stretch along the lower side, matched by orange callipers that peek through the alloy spokes. These are contrasted by the seemingly matt black paint job, a colour that brings far more texture to the lines of the Amarok when compared with the white 2013 car.

Circling the underside of the headlights are sharply angled LED day running lights, whilst to the rear a dual exhaust system and roll bar add a rugged feel to the concept. Inside, a chunky centre console is accompanied by a flat-bottomed steering wheel, two-tone leather bucket style seats, Alcantara upholstery and orange accents, bringing a sporty touch to the cabin.

There’s no confirmation of what features under the bonnet, but last year’s concept utilised a 3-litre TDI V6 producing 268bhp and 442lb ft of torque. This pushed power through an eight-speed auto ‘box and all four-wheels via the Volkswagen 4Motion system. The sporty pickup could therefore complete the 0-60 spring in 7.9secs, so we can expect similar performance from this year’s concept.
