New 147mph Mini JCW Roadster: New 147mph Mini JCW Roadster

Two-seater convertible range headed by 208bhp turbocharged John Cooper Works version

Mini is pushing ahead with the expansion of its model family. The latest edition to the range is the Roadster, the sixth model in the brands current line up and the first open-top two-seater in the marque’s history.

The model line-up ranges from the basic Cooper Roadster with 121bhp, via the diesel-engined Mini Cooper SD Roadster sporting 141bhp and the Cooper S Roadster producing 181bhp, delivered by either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.

The most evo minded offering is the John Cooper Works Roadster, which is propelled by a 208bhp four-cylinder turbocharged engine.

Performance will be fiery with the 0-62mph sprint in a claimed 6.5sec, and a top speed of 147mph, added to which the combined fuel consumption is 38.7 mpg with169g/km of C02.

Along with Mini’s usual broad potential for personalization, Apple iPhone owners can also access Internet based services inside the car, using the centre console joystick, steering wheel buttons and on-board monitor. This opens the door to a web radio function, use of Google services, Facebook and Twitter.

Prices start at £18,015 for the standard Cooper, rising to £24,850 for the JCW. All variants go on sale from the 25th of February; with the first UK deliveries to take place in March this year.
