Gemballa GT Spider: tuned McLaren 12C

The McLaren 12 Spider becomes the Gemballa GT via a striking carbonfibre bodykit

Gemballa’s latest tuned supercar is a striking McLaren 12C Spider. The convertible British supercar – launched earlier this year – has been treated to a new styling kit, morphing into the Gemballa GT Spider.

The carbonfibre aero kit comprises a new front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser, while the styling has been boldly tweaked at both the front and rear to make sure no supercar aficionado will confuse this for a stock 12C.

The Gemballa GT also gets a set of ‘GForged-one’ wheels, measuring 20in front, 21in rear, an inch larger each axle than standard, while the interior can be bespoke designed and hued in leather and Alcantara.

The GT displays no performance advantages over a standard 12C Spider, McLaren’s twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 engine untouched. With 616bhp, a 207mph top speed and a 3.1sec 0-60 time, though, this was an area you could argue is happily left alone.

Gemballa’s GT Spider predictably costs a chunk more than standard; the styling kit adds 19,980 euros (around £20,000 after tax) to the 12C Spider's £195,000 asking price while the wheels start at 7980 euros (circa £8000).
