What to pay

The entry-level price for a privately advertised 2005 or early 2006 1.8 is currently around £4000, with an equivalent 2.0 generally commanding a £750-950 premium. The earliest 2.0 Sports with the six-speed ’box and LSD start at around £5000. Another grand buys an ’07 car, while £7k gives you a choice of the very best ’07/’08 Sports. The first facelifted ’09 cars appear at around the £9k mark.
