Lexus NX SUV revealed

The Lexus NX has been revealed ahead of its Beijing motor show launch next week. Details and pictures here.

Lexus has revealed the production-ready version of its compact SUV NX – previously revealed in LF-NX concept form at the Frankfurt motor show in 2013. The new model will compete against the Audi Q5 and BMW X3 in the medium-sized SUV market.

The styling has been somewhat toned down since the concept was unveiled, although many of the hallmark features – including that Spindle Grille – have remained. Standard models sit on 17-inch alloy wheels, while the sportier F-Sport models getting 18-inch aversions.

Drivetrain options include the NX 300h petrol-electric hybrid, NX 200 naturally aspirated petrol model as well as the turbocharged petrol NX 200t. Both front and four-wheel drive options will be available for each engine, although UK specification has not yet been finalised.

Lexus claims the interior of the car is designed to feel like a sports car, featuring a thick-rimmed steering wheel. It also features a new wireless charging tray for portable devices, and on-board panoramic view monitor.

Although the production-ready car will be on show in Beijing, full spec details will not be known until later in the year, with the NX expected to go on sale at the beginning of Winter.
