Kia Procee'd GT: more pictures

More pictures and details of the Kia Procee'd GT, a 201bhp VW Golf GTI alternative

Kia will unveil its new Procee’d GT and Cee’d GT hot hatchbacks at the 2013 Geneva motor show.

Both models will be powered by a new turbocharged version of Kia’s 1.6-litre GDI engine, which produces 51 per cent more power than its naturally aspirated relation. The four-cylinder engine puts out 201bhp and 195lb ft, and comes with a standard six-speed manual transmission. These outputs help both GT variants get to 62mph in 7.7sec and reach a top speed of 143mph.

Exterior upgrades over the standard Cee’d include a new front grille, body kit, LED daytime running lights, dual-exhaust pipes, larger 18inch alloy wheels and red brake calipers. Inside, the GT models are equipped with Recaro sports seats, alloy pedals and a new instrument cluster.

Kia will also offer a Pro_cee’d GT 1st Edition, a limited run model restricted to 500 cars across Europe. Whilst mechanically identical to the normal GT models, the 1st Edition features additional equipment including adaptive headlights, black 18in alloy wheels, red illuminated GT badging and satnav.

Production of the Procee’d and Cee’d GT begins in May, with deliveries in the summer. A starting price of around £20,000 is likely.
