Jaguar F-Type ‘Chequered Flag’ special edition revealed

Celebrating 70 years of the Jaguar sports car, this special edition comes with styling and suspension tweaks

Jaguar is celebrating 70 years of its sports cars with an F-type ‘Chequered Flag’ special edition. Available in automatic F-type Coupe and Convertible models with either the entry-level 297bhp four-cylinder, or supercharged V6 engines, the special is based on R-Dynamic models and features a combination of aesthetic and suspension tweaks.

That suspension tweak is a recalibrated ‘comfort’ mode on the adaptive dampers to try smoothen out the low-speed ride. The special edition rides on standard 20-inch wheels, and is available in a limited palette of colours including Caldera Red, Fuji White or Carpathian Grey, matched with a black painted roof on the coupe, or a black fabric soft-top on the convertible.

The interior has also picked up some unique elements, such as red seat belts and a steering wheel with red leather top centre marker. The black leather seats also pick up an embroidered logo and white stitching. The dash is finished in a dark aluminium trim, while the infotainment system is now fitted with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Outside, R-Dynamic elements, such as body-coloured sills, splitter and diffuser are as before, likewise the gloss black-finished grille, window surrounds and side intakes.

Available to order now from dealers, prices vary between a jump of £6-7k above the R-Dynamic models on which they are based, taking into consideration the extra equipment fitted.
