Honda's reborn NSX racer

The Honda NSX is reborn as an ultra desirable racing car, the mighty V8 HSV-010 GT

Nothing beats a bit of racing car porn, and this superb Honda is a great example. It’s the HSV-010 GT, but ignore the clunky name, as it’s essentially the new NSX supercarHonda axed the NSX last year, much to our disappointment, but it’s certainly some comfort that it’s been reborn as a light and powerful racer. And if HSV-010 GT sounds too much like a dishwasher product code, then worry not: HSV stands for ‘Honda Sports Velocity’. Excellent. Under the bonnet there’s a 3.4-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine, which has ‘500 or more’ bhp and ‘289 or more’ lb ft of torque, according to Honda. It powers the 1100kg Sports Velocity’s rear wheels only via a sequential manual gearbox. And that V8 sounds absolutely belting. Click here to watch a video of the Honda GT in action. The car will race in Japan’s Super GT series, battling Nissan’s equally lovely GT-R racing car. It’s shaping up to be some fight… Follow evo on Twitter or Facebook for car news and views
