Ford Focus 2015 review – Is the tech-loaded new-look Focus a Golf beater? - Design

Ford’s best-seller returns in its sleekest form yet

  • Composed chassis, refined ride, strong engine performance
  • But those engines are thirsty

Design

The Mk4 is the first Focus to wear Ford’s ‘One Ford’ design language, so earns a new exterior to match the Fiesta and Mondeo and a de-cluttered dash. Surprisingly, the car is a bit of a head-turner – we reckon it’s the sharply angled day-running LEDs and broad chrome-finish grille that grab attention.

In many ways, the car’s rear lacks the aggression of the front, but it’s undeniably handsome from all angles. Our car was fitted with the optional 18-inch Y-design alloy wheels that come as part of the £450 Appearance Pack 2 – we think they’re worth the extra cost.

The interior is also a pleasant place to sit, with a functional, yet attractive design to the centre console and dials. The dash's top is a little too chunky for our liking, but Ford's decision to de-clutter gets our thumbs up.
