New Ferrari ice driving course

Ferrari releases details of its new ice driving course, featuring the new FF and lots of snow

Ferrari has released details of an ice driving course it will hold in the USA in 2012.  As much as we might like to think otherwise, not all Ferraris are driven by racing drivers, hardened road testers or experienced driving enthusiasts. And Ferrari has recognised this with the set up of a new Winter Driving Course for American owners. Held in Aspen, Colorado, it’s modelled on the ‘Pilota on Ice’ scheme that was recently available to European Ferrari owners and trialled by our very own Henry Catchpole in 2009. Click here to read it and see the pictures. However, unlike the European equivalent, the Colorado course utilises a fleet comprised exclusively of the new, four-wheel-drive FF – giving pupils a unique opportunity to explore the on-limit handling of Ferrari’s newest model in a safe environment. Open exclusively to Ferrari owners – although applicants needn’t be located in the USA nor FF drivers – bookings are now being taken on a first-come, first-serve basis for the course’s seven-week run, starting in January 2012. Prices have not been publicly announced, but – as the European course cost 9600 euros in 2009 – expenditure is likely to be on a par with that of decently-specced supermini, seeing little change from £10,000!
