Ferrari F430 Scuderia Spider: Ferrari F430 Scuderia Spider

Drop-top version of hardcore Ferrari F430 Scuderia revealed

Fresh from gaining the California, Ferrari's open-top range boasts another model in the form of the Scuderia Spider 16M. Essentially a drop top F430 Scuderia, just 499 will be produced wearing a price tag of around £202k (to be finalised once the UK spec is confirmed). That's a massive £30,000 more than the regular Coupe Scuderia costs and around a chunky £54,000 more than the standard F430 Spyder.

That 16M tag was created to celebrate Ferrari's 16 world manufacturer titles in Formula 1, the latest one wrapped up last weekend with the guidance of Felipe Massa.

The 503bhp, 4.3-litre V8 from the hard-top is present, offering up 347lb ft of torque and a 0-62mph dash of 3.7sec, carrying on to 196mph. That means it is 2mph and 0.1sec shy of the Scuderia coupe's performance. Not too shabby considering the added weight of the roof mechanism and the potential (if slight) loss in dynamics.Ferrari's E-diff is present and correct, alongside the brand's famous F1 semi-auto paddle shift and manettino dial on the steering wheel.

Anyone fearing the idea of a hardcore car going soft due to the roof-swap needn't panic, Ferrari are claiming the car can Fiorano quicker than any other open-roof Ferrari - including the mega-quick new California, which we drive in issue 125 of evo - out November 12.
