Interior and tech

The California T may feature the latest generation Ferrari V8 engine, but there is no hiding its 9 year-old design inside. Lacking the new-age interior graphics and digital architecture of newer models like the GTC4 Lusso and 812 Superfast, the California T makes do with an interior that looks its age, even if it is still luxuriously trimmed.

The classic centrally mounted rev counter remains, as does Ferrari’s button festooned steering wheel, but the infotainment system looks cheap compared to the better integrated units in newer Ferraris, and definitely lacks the wow-factor of the latest GTC4’s full-width screen.

Space in the front is impressive, although like most cars of this type the rear seats are only for kids and contortionists. The folding glass roof also makes for a more comfortable open-top ownership experience, despite the aesthetic degradation brought by it.

The reality is, though, that most rivals also operate with an outdated interior, with the Bentley, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz alternatives all at least one generation behind their respective brand’s latest interior tech.
