Hennessey's 700bhp Corvette Z06

Hennessey Performance's 700bhp Chevrolet Corvette Z06 heads to the dyno on video

American tuner Hennessey Performance Engineering has developed a supercharger package for the fastest Chevrolet Corvette, the high performance Z06.

Called the HPE700, the fettled ‘Vette produces 700bhp at 6300rpm, some 50bhp more than the standard version that was unveiled earlier this week. To achieve the power hike, Hennessey upgraded the supercharger of the 6.2-litre LT4 V8, uprated the camshaft and cylinder heads and fitted a custom induction system.

To signify that the ‘Vette is no normal Z06, Hennessey logos can be found on new exterior badges, floormats, and carbonfibre door sills, whilst serial-numbered dash and engine plaques give each car a unique identity.

Buyers can also spec further upgrades, with a raft of carbonfibre additions including front and rear spoilers and interior trim, as well as H10 Monoblock wheels made in-house, Brembo carbon-ceramic discs, Penske adjustable suspension and grippier Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.

Joining the HPE700 ‘Vette in the Hennessey line up is the HPE600 Camaro. As the name suggests, this uprated Chevrolet Camaro produces 600bhp from its tuned, naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8, some 20bhp more than the standard car.

The Camaro’s power increase comes from CNC ported cylinder heads, upgraded valvetrain parts, a custom camshaft and stainless steel longtube headers. Much like the ‘Vette, the Camaro also receives badges, floormats, carbonfibre door sills and serial-numbering to signify its extra performance.

Even with so many upgrades, Hennessey offers a three-year or 36,000-mile limited warranty as standard for both of its tuned Chevys. Though just 100 of the extra potent Z06s will be built for the 2014 model year, so getting your hands on one from this side of the pond may be a struggle.

To demonstrate the monstrous power these tuned cars can produce, Hennessey has released videos of finished cars undergoing dyno tuning to optimise their engine management settings for the new parts. Watch the video below to see the Corvette almost tearing off its straps as it lays 700bhp into the rollers…
