Chevrolet Camaro: Camaro spy images

Minimal disguise gives us the best view yet of the forthcoming Camaro

Scheduled for a presentation in one year’s time, these are the best shots yet of the all-new Chevrolet Camaro, snapped undergoing testing in Germany without any disguise – save for the false headlights.

The new Camaro will be a traditional, rear-wheel-drive American sportscar and might even feature independent rear suspension. What’s certain, however, is that power will come from a huge 6.0-litre V8 featuring cylinder shutdown to improve fuel economy.

It’s hard to guess from these pictures whether the concept car’s 21-inch alloys (22 inches on rear) will make it into production. Although we shot these pictures while the American car was testing in Germany, it’s the Australian brand of GM, Holden, that’s responsible for the development process. The car will be built in Canada, and the range will be completed by a convertible and an SS variant in 2010 or 2011.
