BMW Z4 M Sport

Not quite a new M roadster, but an M Sport iteration of the new BMW Z4

An M Division version of the new BMW Z4 is in development. While (sadly) it’s not a modern day M Roadster or replacement for the now defunct Z4 M, it’s an M Sport performance pack that should make it a sharper weapon with which to attack Porsche Boxsters and Mercedes SLKs.

Stiffer suspension, larger (and potentially lighter) wheels and a host of more muscular styling tweaks are likely to make up the M Sport package. Power hikes are unlikely, but Z4s wearing a tri-colour M badge will no doubt feel more hardcore, with less emphasis on ride comfort compared to the standard car.

It’s likely to be an option across the Z4 coupe convertible range, but if you want to properly fulfil the badge you’ll want it on an sDrive35i, whose twin-turbo 3-litre engine boats 302bhp and 295lb ft of torque, ensuring a brisk 5.2sec dash to 62mph. That’s accleration similar to that offered by the old Z4 M roadster.
