New York show: 300bhp BMW X1

BMW has released details of a 300bhp X1 exclusive to the US-market.

The US version of the X1 has been officially unveiled at the New York motor show, with two engines on offer - the 240bhp sDrive28i and 300bhp sDrive35i. Both models are borrow the highly efficient twin-turbocharged 'TwinPower' four- and six-cylinder petrol engines from the latest 3-Series.

With prices starting from $31,545 (£19,872 at current exchange rates) the X1 is competitively priced, and after the success of the X6, X5 and X3 in the 'States, it's only natural that BMW should add the compact SUV to its line-up.
