AC Schnitzer launches 710bhp BMW M8 Competition

As if the standard car wasn’t potent enough, AC Schnitzer has given the BMW M8 Competition even more power

Following in the footsteps of its 600bhp M850i of late 2018, BMW tuner AC Schnitzer has revealed its take on the full-fat M8 Competition. Lifting power and tweaking aesthetics, the brand’s new offering helps the performance coupe stand out from the crowd.

ECU tweaks extract additional power from the M8’s 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged S63 V8, bringing output to 710bhp and 627lb ft of torque without the need for additional hardware - that’s a jump of 93bhp and 74lb ft over the standard M8 Competition. New performance figures haven’t been provided, but expect to see an improvement on the standard 3.2sec 0-62mph time and 189mph top speed (when equipped with the M Driver Package).

Elsewhere, buyers can opt for a new, more free-flowing sports exhaust system equipped with valves to adjust volume depending on the surroundings - a number of stealthy exhaust tip options can also be fitted to finish the look.

As you’d expect from such a package, a handful of new carbon fibre aerodynamic components are also on the cards, ranging from a more aggressive front splitter to an enlarged rear spoiler to help increase high speed stability.

A range of 20 or 21” forged wheel options can also be had, reducing weight, increasing strength and offering new looks - these are all wrapped in 275-section front and 285-section rear tyres and can be had in a variety of shades. A suspension lowering kit helps lift those wheels into the arches by 20mm at the front and 15 at the rear.

The interior doesn’t receive much attention, but aluminium shift paddles, pedals and a keyholder can be specified if a new supercar-rivalling power output doesn’t quite cut it.

AC Schnitzer is offering the modifications on the M8 Coupe, Cabriolet and Gran Coupe. No pricing information has been revealed.
