BMW M4 tuned by AC Schnitzer

German tuner AC Schnitzer has released details of its 502bhp BMW M4 at the Essen motor show

BMW tuner AC Schnitzer revealed its modified BMW M4 at the 2014 Essen motor show. Receiving a new engine map and body modifications, the hardened Beemer gains 78bhp and sits on uprated performance suspension.

That sees total output of the twin-turbocharged 3-litre straight-six increase to 502bhp, with prospects of even more power on the horizon as the tuner develops a new sports exhaust with either quad or larger twin carbon-coated tailpipes. Though no figures have been released, that should comfortably nudge the M4’s 0-62 time below the 4sec mark.

To match that extra grunt in the corners is the option of race-spec adjustable coilover suspension, which can lower the car by as much as 40mm at the front and 30mm at the rear. For those looking for a little more compliancy, there’s also the option of a less aggressive sports spring kit which drops front and rear by as much as 30 and 15mm.

AC Schnitzer has been at work on the M4’s exterior too. An aero kit comprises optional fitment of carbon front spoiler lips and mirror covers, a carbon rear diffuser and carbon roof spoiler. It might not make the cut in our latest ‘best spoilers gallery,’ but that whacking great rear wing certainly makes up for it. Wheels of up to 21-inches in diameter are also offered.

Inside, there are aluminium pedals, a key holder, a digital gear display and options for a leather or aluminium gear knob, handbrake and iDrive controller cover. Oh, and you even get a set of velour floor mats.

Prices for AC Shnitzer's work are still to be confirmed. For reference, a standard, wingless 425bhp BMW M4 costs £56,650.
