2017 BMW M3 facelift revealed

BMW has made new, but subtle, tweaks to its boisterous saloon

A mildly facelifted take on the BMW M3 will make its debut at this year's Geneva motor show, echoing changes made to the rest of the 3-series and 4-series range.

The Bavarian manufacturer has turned its attention to the super saloon following revisions made to the M4. Looking at recently released images of the refreshed M3, you’ll have trouble picking the new 2017 model out of a lineup; few and subtle changes being the order of the day.

Modifications are mostly contained to the headlamp clusters, and the latest M3 now comes with BMW’s LED headlight technology. Slim LED light bars, as seen on the latest generation 5-Series, are the most obvious visual change to the 2017 car.

The straight-six engine goes untouched. This isn't worth lamenting, though. With 425bhp on tap and ample torque courtesy of two turbos, the 3-litre unit still offers up plenty of performance. Should you feel the need for some extra grunt you can equip the performance pack, which will send 444bhp to the rear wheels via a dual clutch, or manual transmission.

We expect the revised M3 to land in UK showrooms in the second quarter of 2017.
