2013 Alpina B3 Biturbo news and pictures

The 2013 Alpina B3 Biturbo previews an F30 BMW M3 with tantalising 404bhp and 190mph performance figures

Alpina has announced that it will reveal its new B3 Biturbo saloon, which is based on the F30 BMW 3-series, at the 2013 Geneva motor show. The B3 – the name given to Alpina’s softer M3 alternative – is powered by the same twin-turbocharged, 3-litre straight six as the standard BMW 335i, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. It has been modified by Alpina to produce 404bhp and 442lb ft, the latter figure matching a 6.2-litre Mercedes C63 AMG.  These figures help the B3 reach 62mph in 4.2sec (0.4sec faster than the current DCT equipped BMW M3) before hitting a supercar-baiting top speed of 190mph. Economy and CO2 emissions are also improved over the outgoing, E90-based B3 Biturbo, rated at 37.2mpg and 177g/km respectively. These initial teaser shots reveal the typical Alpina styling flourishes, including subtle body kit, multi-spoke alloy wheels and retro side decals. Alpina will release more B3 Biturbo details and pictures once it has been officially unveiled at next week’s Geneva motor show. Expect a price tag of around £50,000 for the B3 saloon, with Touring, coupe and convertible versions likely in the near future.
