707bhp BMW M3 revealed

German tuner reveals its supercar slaying BMW M3 coupe, with more power than a Ferrari 599 GTO

We love the BMW M3. And it’s certainly not a car that’s crying out for more power. Nevertheless, German tuner Emotion Wheels has seen fit to boost the performance car’s output. And not by a small fraction, either… Out has gone the E92 M3’s naturally aspirated, 414bhp 4-litre V8; in its place at the front of the car (and driving the rear wheels) is the 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 from the controversial X5 M and X6 M fast 4x4s. In those it produces 547bhp; some feverish engine tweaks and a modified sports exhaust sees its maximum output rise to 707bhp in this M3. Needless to say, there have been chassis and suspension tweaks to accommodate the slightly frightening rise in power. There have been no performance figures released yet, but any improvements over the standard M3’s 4.8sec sprint to 62mph will depend on how those rear tyres manage to translate Ferrari 599 GTO-bashing power onto the road (or track). With the limiter removed, expect a top speed north of 190mph. Accompanying the 71 per cent power increase is a bunch of pleasingly subtle styling tweaks. There’s no bright paint or big wings, just a carbonfibre bonnet (to match the roof), more muscular side sills and some 19in matt black alloys. If you’d prefer a more official tuned M3, click to read about the GTS Read our road test of the new BMW M3 Competition
