Alpina B7 video shows high performance 7 Series in action

Rumoured 600bhp for latest Alpina project

The Alpina B7 is the latest car to be teased by BMW tuner Alpina. Based around the just launched BMW 7 Series, the car is rumoured to feature a 600bhp take on the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 found in the Alpina B5. This would make it the most powerful road car Alpina has ever produced.

The B5 is already capable of topping 200mph, so expect similar levels of performance from the B7. Whether the 7 Series' extra weight will have a significant effect on outright numbers is still to be seen. The most powerful car in the current 7 Series range - the 750i - uses the same engine and produced 444bhp.

Alpina hasn't released any official details on the car just yet, but has posted a video which shows it in action on a track. More information has been promised for Geneva.

For comparison purposes, the previous Alpina B7 managed 533bhp and hit 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds. The Mercedes-AMG S63 saloon takes 4.4 seconds to 62mph and produces 576 bhp from a twin-turbo 5.5-litre V8.
