Bentley's extreme Continental GT Supersports heads out testing

Bentley's most extreme road-going car ever has been spied out testing.

The Continental GT Supersports uses the company's twin-turbo 6-litre W12 engine, but with 621bhp on tap. The car's been on a diet, too, with 110kg shed from the kerb weight. Big changes include the removal of the back seats, and the front ones being replaced by carbonfibre items. There's carbon brake discs, weighing 20kg less than normal, and 10kg lighter forged alloy wheels.

The result of all the weight-loss is a 204mph top speed and an uber-brisk 3.7sec 0-60mph dash. Not bad in a car that's still over two tons...

The other big news is the introduction of Bentley's 'FlexFuel' powertrain. While that sounds scarily eco-friendly, it refers to the juice you can put into the Supersports - bioethanol, petrol, or any mix of the two are all compatible. It's designed to be the first step in Bentley's cleaner fuel programme, with the Supersports becoming a regular model in the Bentley range.
