Audi TT RS review – design

The 2019 facelift brought a touch more aggression to the TT RS, while retaining the pert form of the original

  • Devastatingly quick, sounds great
  • Adjustability is not the TT RS’s thing

Design

The TT RS’s 2019 facelift brought in a subtle aesthetic refresh focused around the front and rear bumpers. Firstly, the TT RS picked up some extra chamfers on its large front intakes, giving the nose a more faceted and slightly softer look than before. The rear bumper combines the (fake) vents below the tail lights seen elsewhere in the TT range, which sit atop a redesigned lower bumper with new oblong graphics that surround the typical oval exhaust pipes.

While the RS design treatment often adds a subtle menace to Audi models, the TT’s more Bauhaus-like aesthetic has always struggled to carry the typical RS elements with quite such finesse. As a result, the TT RS is very specification specific, and can come across a little boy racer-like. Keep the specification subtle, uncheck that questionable static rear wing option and you’ll be left with a TT RS closest to its mantra, if not its target audience.
