Audi TTS Competition news, specs and UK prices

The Audi TTS Competition special edition marks half a million TT sales. Price spec and pictures here

Audi is celebrating half a million TT sales with a special edition. The Audi TTS Competition will be limited to 500 cars, split between coupe and roadster versions. Available in two colours – Nimbus Grey and Imola Yellow – it gets 19in alloy wheels and a leather interior with some bold yellow stitching. Its fixed rear wing and five-spoke alloys ape the more powerful, five-cylinder Audi TT RS. The convertible hood can be specced in grey or black, too.

The competition is powered by the existing TTS powertrain, meaning a 268bhp 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a 5.3sec 0-60 time for those who specify the six-speed S-tronic twin-clutch paddleshift gearbox, the manual transmission adding a couple of tenths to this time. Its top speed, predictably, is limited to 155mph.

Priced from £38,860 for the Coupe, and £42,320 for the Cabriolet, Audi says that the Competiion offers the equivalent of £5665 worth of styling options for £2815 more than the basic TTS. Although 500 will be built, just 120 Competitions will be coming to the UK.

It’s 15 years since the Audi TT’s introduction in 1998, when it took the 1995 concept car of the same name into production with few major design changes. The TT’s rise to success goes hand in hand with Audi’s huge growth over the last couple of decades, transforming from bit-part player to one of the most dominant premium car makers.

The current, second-generation TT is due for replacement soon. You can read about how the new Audi TT will shape up here. It’s likely to take inspiration from the TT Ultra Quattro concept, cutting weight and upping the tech quote measurably.
