Audi RS4 pumped to 523bhp by Abt Sportsline

German tuner Abt Sportsline has turned its hand to the V6-powered Audi RS4

The Audi RS4 is one of the very best options for those that wish to have a healthy dose of performance in their family estate, but aren’t quite willing to splash out on the £90,000 RS6. In order to bring it a step closer to its larger sibling, however, Abt Sportsline has upped power, and carbonfibre…

Based in Kempten, Germany, the tuner has been applying its motorsports-derived expertise to VAG products for many years, with its latest project being the Abt Power S kit for the 2020 RS4. Raising output from the standard 444bhp and 443lb ft of torque, the estate’s fettled 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 now sends 523bhp and 502lb ft to all four wheels – that’s an increase of 79bhp and 59lb ft of torque.

The substantial increase in power comes from a combination of an ECU tune, a new ‘water cooler kit’ and air intake cover – a new intercooler is also available at an additional cost. New performance figures haven’t been disclosed, but with the 0-62mph sprint as standard coming at 4.1sec, a sub-four second time isn’t unlikely. Top speed won’t exceed the 174mph of a delimited factory car.

To match the increase in power, Abt has included a host of new components to both enhance aesthetics and improve performance. The front wings are now adorned with carbonfibre vents to match the new rear carbon spoiler, complementing the stainless steel exhaust system finished with quad carbon tips. New wheels are available in either 20- or 21-inch sizes, alongside height adjustable suspension – this can be combined with front and rear anti-roll bars at an additional cost.

The cabin is also treated to a new Abt start-stop button, carbon trim on the seats and dashboard, a new shifter cover and a leather and carbon steering wheel.

Pricing for the package hasn’t been disclosed.
