Audi R8 gets an 'Audi Sport' makeover

A special edition Audi R8 is set to be produced in limited numbers by Audi Sport honouring the company's motorsport success

Audi’s racing arm, Audi Sport, is taking two hundred of the brand’s flagship R8 supercars and applying its trademark silver, red and black livery. The small production run of cars has been created to project the achievements of Audi’s racing exploits onto the road. The unique exterior colour scheme is augmented by a suite of individual body components as well as interior parts to mark it out.

Customers can choose between the trio of Audi Sport hues that are contrasted by red sideblades and wing mirrors. The front lip spoiler, mesh grille and diffuser insert are all finished in titanium black. The anthracite black, forged aluminum 20-inch wheels are unique to the model, featuring a ten-spoke design within the silver-edged rim perimeter.

Step over the sills - bearing the racing division label - and into the cockpit and a myriad of Audi Sport touches are visible throughout. A red and black leather combination garnishes the doors and seats, while the backrests are embossed with the R8 symbol, exclusive to this Audi Sport edition. The interior is also festooned with plenty of carbon accents to complete the sporty feel.

The running gear and chassis go untouched. That’s no bad thing though - owners are unlikely to be disappointed. At worst, potential buyers will be privy to 533bhp in the standard model, or the full fat 602bhp in R8 V10 Plus form. Power is sent via the Quattro system to all four wheels allowing the R8 to sprint from 0-62mph in 3.2sec. The huge performance gives rise to a heavenly V10 howl adorning the R8 with real drama.
