Audi A6 review - German executive does just about everything well - Design

Audi A6 is Ingolstadt’s foil to the BMW 5-series and Mercedes-Benz E-class

  • Beautiful interior, mighty turbodiesels, comfort, refinement and space
  • Getting old now, rivals more fun to drive

Design

Audi’s design language is well established and the A6 is a very clear representation of it. It’s a relatively simple, unfussy shape that relies on detailing around the front and rear lights, plus the grille to make it stand out. S line models undeniably add some visual assertiveness, looking more sporting, while larger alloy wheel choices make sure the A6 doesn’t look under-wheeled. The Avant’s a smart looker, while the Allroad get some off-road chic by adding some chunky plastic cladding and pseudo skid plates around its undersides. A fine looking car regardless of specification, but those Avants look the best to us and offer loads of practicality, too.
