Audi unveils road car technology heading to Le Mans as well as electric R8 track debut

The new Audi R15 Plus that will be competing for Audi’s ninth Le Mans 24-hour victory will boast an unexpected edition from the company’s road car range. Helping out drivers during their night stints will be the standard LED headlights from the Audi R8, to provide more efficient lighting than the R15’s standard lighting alone. Other tweaks compared to last year’s car include more complex aerodynamics than before (aiding top speed) and a more ergonomic cockpit for the drivers to work in. Audi says it’s much better prepared than last year, with over 40,000 test kilometres put under the R15 with two 30-hour endurance runs to make sure the 24 hours of Le Mans can be completed with ease. Before the race begins, Audi will also be doing a demo run around La Sarthe in its e-tron electric supercar.
