Aston Martin V8 Vantage S SP10: Frankfurt motor show 2013

The Aston Martin Vantage S SP10 appeared at the Frankfurt show, with 430bhp and a manual gearbox

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage S SP10 debuted at the 2013 Frankfurt motor show. Inspired by Aston’s GT4 racing cars, which have achieved two SP10 class wins at the Nurburgring 24-hour race, the special edition is described as ‘a celebration of motorsport success’.

At its core is the same drivetrain as the regular V8 Vantage S, meaning a 4.7-litre V8 engine with 430bhp and 361lb ft of torque. But while the regular Vantage S only offers up a seven-speed paddleshift gearbox, the SP10 gets this as an option, with a six-speed manual standard and available for the first time with the S’s engine. The top speed is 190mph, while 0-60 takes less than 4.5sec.

Other tweaks are less dramatic, wider Bridgestone Potenza tyres and more responsive steering the only dynamic modifications while there’s a subtle body kit, starring mildly fettled front and rear bumpers (and therefore enhanced aerodynamic performance) and just one paint option, Ceramic Grey. Choose a V8 Vantage S SP10 Roadster and you’ll not only get a car with a very long name, but one with a new Titan Grey folding roof too. Black 19in forged alloy wheels and black brake callipers complete the visual changes.

The Aston V8 SP10 is on sale now, priced from £91,995 in the UK. Aston’s Frankfurt stand also featured the new V12 Vantage S, which does without a manual gearbox option, while the CC100 speedster concept also sits on the stand.
