Ariel Nomad 2015 unveiled: pictures, specifications and more confirmed

Off-road Ariel will hit 60mph in 3.4 secs

Ariel has lifted the lid on the Nomad, a brand new all-terrain vehicle that is capable of racing from 0-60mph in just 3.4secs.

The car features a 2.4-litre Honda engine taken from the Accord, but with tweaks from Ariel that see it putting out 235bhp at 7200rpm.

Even more impressive is that the car weighs just 670kg. This weight includes the off-road tyres, suspension setup and the full rollover bars.

Torque figures are also typically Ariel-esque, with the engine matching the Supercharged 2.0-litre Atom at 221lb ft. All this will no doubt make for a pretty serious car, both on and off road.

While the Nomad does resemble the Atom, it has a much more sophisticated rollover structure and different suspension. Rather than using the inboard system found on the Atom, Ariel has instead opted for something more conventional to handle the larger wheels and suspension.

The interior is much closer to the Atom, with a similar six speed manual, instrument cluster and pedal box.

Body panels, of which there are few, are made from polythene and will be available in a range of colour choices. The tubular chassis frame will also be customisable.

Accessories are said to include roof lights, nerf bars and even luggage racks. Atom is also going to offer different brake, damping and wheel setups.
