592bhp Alfa Romeo 8C Spider news and pictures

Tuning company Novitec modifies the gorgeous Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, nearly 600bhp the result

Tuning specialist Novitec has tweaked the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, creating what it says is the most powerful and fastest road legal Alfa yet.

The 8C’s sonorous 4.7-litre V8 engine has had its standard 450bhp and 354lb ft upped to 592bhp and 438lb ft, thanks to the fitting of a supercharger and a stainless steel exhaust system.

The supercharger kit costs a steep-sounding 19,900 euros (£18K at current exchange rates), but with the 8C Spider’s list price topping £170K, it’s not a huge increase, especially when you consider the performance gains: the 0-60mph time falls from 4.5sec to 3.8sec (est) while the top speed is upped from 181mph to 190mph.

The exhaust system not only provides extra power, but is designed to ramp up the engine note further, with an integrated flap to vary the sound depending on engine speed.

There’s height-adjustable threaded coil-over suspension available, too, while the alloy wheels measure 21in at the front and 22in back, to benefit the styling and grip, with close on 600bhp now making its way through the rear tyres.
