2021 Abarth 595 range detailed – subtle changes across the range

Abarth’s aging 595 gets a nip and tuck for 2021, no sign of a hot 500e in the wings

Abarth has revealed UK specifications of its updated 595 range featuring realigned models, fresh colour and trim options and new aesthetic elements inside and out. The range is made up of the old petrol-powered 595 and doesn’t feature the all-new electric 500e – Abarth is still tight-lipped on its plans with the new model. 2021 also sees the end of the 695 and 124 Spider, leaving just the 595 left in the range.

The new range is split into four models, available with three variants of the familiar 1.4-litre turbocharged Multijet four-cylinder. Entry-level ‘595’ models feature a basic 145bhp variant priced from £17,760, and are only available with a six-speed manual transmission.

From here Turismo models feature a 165bhp tune of the same engine and a range of small updates over the standard 595 including leather trim, starting at £20,960.

Competizione models start from £23,060, and feature a new set of 17-inch wheels and pumped up wheel arches on the outside, plus carbonfibre trim throughout the interior.

The range is topped with the Esse Esse model, which costs from a more substantial £26,560, but comes with plenty of mechanical upgrades to justify the price point. Bespoke to the Esse Esse are a limited-slip differential, uprated Koni shocks, Brembo brakes, an Akrapovic titanium exhaust and Alcantara trim inside. Both Competitizone and Esse Esse models also feature the most potent 180bhp version of the Multijet engine.

All 595s also feature an 8-inch infotainment system with standard Apple Carplay and Android Auto, plus a new 8-speaker audio system by BeatsAudio available optionally across the range.

Turismo, Competitizione and Esse Esse models are also available with an optional six-speed semi-automatic transmission for £1350, and all 595 models can be ordered with a folding soft top roof for an extra £2700, making a 595C Esse Esse with the semi-automatic the most expensive variant at £30,560.
